Les apparitions de Marilyn dans Look contribuèrement à la rendre célèbre car c'était un magazine très lu en Amérique. Ce magazine permit à Marilyn de faire deux rencontres importantes dans sa vie. La première, Rupert Allan qui fut le rédacteur en chef du magazine et qui est devenu par la suite son attaché de presse jusqu'en 1960 avant de partir travailler pour Grace Kelly à Monaco. La seconde rencontre importante est le photographe Milton Greene qui est devenu son ami dès 1953 et son associé quand ils creérent les MM productions en 1955. Marilyn n'a pas fait la couverture de  Look pour son décès, mais dans la parution du 11 septembre 1962 avec Romy Schneider en couverture Carl Sandburg lui rendit hommage dans un article intitulé 'Tribute for Marilyn, from a friend Carl Sandburg.'

The first was Rupert Allan, who was editor-in-chief of the magazine and later became its press secretary until 1960 before leaving to work for Grace Kelly in Monaco. The second important encounter was the photographer Milton Greene who became his friend in 1953 and his partner when they created the MM productions in 1955. Marilyn did not make the cover of Look for his death, but in the 11 September 1962 issue with Romy Schneider on the cover Carl Sandburg paid tribute to him in an article entitled 'Tribute for Marilyn, from a friend Carl Sandburg.'

Movie magazines of that time prove it by putting Liz Taylor on the cover much more often than Marilyn Monroe.
