Photographe Cecil Beaton

He met Marilyn Monroe in February 1956 in New York. They meet in Cecil Beaton’s room at the Ambassador Hotel, where Marilyn arrives more than an hour late. One of the photos Beaton took that day was one of Marilyn’s favorite. The photo was hanging in the living room of her apartment in New York. Beaton wrote in his diary that he was "surprised, then disarmed, by his lack of inhibition". The photographer compared the actress 'to the final bouquet of a fireworks display' and added: "The initial shyness, the excitement has now taken over. She’s having a great time, squealing, jumping on the couch. She puts a flower stalk in her mouth, blowing on a daisy as if it were a cigarette. It is an indomitable, impromptu, spirited, infectious and gay performance".
